Temple visit kerala sree padmanabha swamy temple

Temple visit in kerala- Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple.

Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple is now a very popular temple around the world and in news as large quantity of treasures in form of Gold Silver and Diamonds discovered inside the temple, making it the richest place of worship in the world.  This was in news around the world which resulted in increase in number of pilgrims coming to this temple every year.

Being a born and brought up man in this city, I used to visit padmanabha swamy temple regularly.  Though it had not received today’s fame as the richest temple,  but the charm we used to get and coolness and divine peace we can feel was beyond comparison.

On those days, temple visit was very simple but as the result of treasure discoveries, authorities and government has increased the security of the temple.  Also government’s plan of popularizing temple tourism has put forward many developmental plans to this temple so I am sure,  if you had visited the temple earier, will not see the same in your next visit.

This article is aimed to help those who wish to visit the temple in the near future.  If you have a plan to visit,  I would say it will be a great choice you have made and it’s a must see religious places for hindus and Vishnu worshippers.

This temple is located in Trivandrum, the capital city of kerala, which is the south end of Indian sub continent.

It has rail, road and air connectivity.  Its one kilometer away from Trivandrum railway station and 6 km away from Trivandrum domestic and international airport.

So its easy to reach the temple and so is the accommodation facilities.  But you should never compare accommodation facilities here to that of other temple destinations such as Madurai or rameshwaram temple in Tamil Nadu.  You will not find the density if accommodation and other facilities which you fnd in famous temples of tamil nadu.  In this respect the authorities need to do more but you can easily find accommodation facilities which are cheap and as the same time very hygiene. Moreover,  there are many Brahmin settlements around the temple providing food and accommodation at reasonable rates.  Its always better to do a google search and fix the accommodation before visiting the temple.

You may wonder why there is so many breaks in darshan timings in this temple.  The answer is unlike other popular temples; Padmanabha Swamy temple gives more importance to rituals than darshans.  The breaks in between is for performing daily pujas and rituals.  Unlike other temples we see regularly, this temple strictly follows century old traditions and hence we as a temple visitor needs to show more patience.  In modern terminology we can simply say its more ritual centric than people centric.   This may be the biggest highlight of this temple.  The effects is very visible;  if you visit the temple you can feel the power of this non-stop rituals which brings more positive energy and divine vibrations inside and the surroundings.

Also this above timings is subject to change with seasons and important days of Vishnu worships.  So its always advisable to have a prior knowledge of temple timings on the day of your visit.
