Yesterday it was Microsoft. Today, it’s Google. The man who brought Hyderabad into India’s IT map is now scripting a new growth story — this time from Visakhapatnam.





The Big Announcement

 


Google, in partnership with Adani Enterprises and Airtel, is setting up India’s largest AI data centre in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

 

Investment: ₹87,520 crore

 

Capacity: 1-gigawatt AI-powered data campus

 

Partners: Adani ConneX, Airtel, and Google

 

Expected impact: ₹10,000 crore annual revenue and 20,000–30,000 jobs

 

The facility will feature a state-of-the-art cable landing station, new subsea gateways, and green energy sources, positioning Vizag as Asia’s largest AI data centre cluster.


Naidu’s Tech Legacy

 

In the 1990s, Chandrababu Naidu dared to dream big. He transformed Hyderabad from a quiet, sleepy town into the thriving Silicon Valley of India.

 

He welcomed global giants—Microsoft, Oracle, Wipro, Infosys—planting the seeds of what would become the iconic HITEC City. Soon after, Genome Valley emerged, nurturing biotech pioneers like Bharat Biotech, turning Hyderabad into a beacon of innovation.

 

But destiny had other plans. The bifurcation of undivided Andhra Pradesh dealt a heavy blow, as Hyderabad and Secunderabad shifted to Telangana, leaving Andhra Pradesh without its crown jewel.

 




Many saw the golden goose lost. Yet Naidu faced the enormous challenge of reinventing a largely rural state—and once again, his vision proved unstoppable. The golden goose was never the city itself, but Naidu’s extraordinary ability to turn stone into gold.


 Rebuilding Andhra’s Dream

 

Fast forward to 2025 — the story takes a new turn.

 

Visakhapatnam now stands at the center of Naidu’s revival plan. His mantra, “One family, one entrepreneur,” echoes across the state.

 

The Naidu–Lokesh duo has attracted over ₹1.14 lakh crore in new investments since returning to power, through global summits and strong policy pushes.

Kia Motors in Anantapur, a major automobile hub.

 

Cognizant’s ₹1,582 crore IT campus in Vizag (8,000 jobs).

 

Adani Group’s ₹18,900 crore projects in green energy and logistics.

 

Raymond’s ₹1,200 crore plant proposal.

 

Oberoi Hotels is expanding to the top AP tourism sites.

 

Even tech giants like Microsoft and Nestlé, Novartis, ABB are exploring collaborations.

 

Visakhapatnam — The AI Hub of India

 

This Google-led AI campus isn’t just infrastructure; it’s a transformation engine.

Just as Y2K launched India’s IT revolution, AI could drive the next generation of digital growth.

With a 1-GW capacity, Vizag’s hub will serve as the engine of India’s AI and cloud revolution — fueling startups, research, and global collaboration.

 


And fittingly, the same man who hosted Microsoft in Hyderabad is now welcoming Google in Visakhapatnam.

As Lokesh said, “This is not just investment, it’s about putting Andhra Pradesh — and India — on the global AI map.”

 

From Hitech City to AI City, this is Naidu’s second Microsoft moment.

 

If the IT boom of 1990 redefined Hyderabad, the AI revolution of 2025 could redefine Andhra Pradesh.

 

Because maybe, the real golden goose wasn’t Hyderabad — it was Naidu’s entrepreneurship all along.
